Personal Statement
My current belief is that most people come into treatment because of troubled relationships- perhaps secondary to substance abuse or another compulsive behavior disorder. Getting "better" will therefore mean examining those relationships and looking at how (and sometimes why) clients contribute to their own unfulfilling relationships. If alcohol; another drug; or a compulsive behavior disorder is present then that will need to be addressed upfront. For some, an investigation of one's past may be useful or helpful; but for others, a focus on how they continue to maintain their less than optimal functioning in the present may be all that is wanted. Over the years, I've evolved into becoming a much more active therapist-passively listening and automatically affirming client's appeals to me less and less.

Crystal Ornelas, BS, RAD II, Member of NAADAC

I stand strong in the belief that alcoholism/addiction is a family disease. I am also very adept at conducting individual and group counseling sessions.

Robert W. Drechsler (Bob). I am a certified drug and alcohol counselor with a master's degree in theology, an ordained minister who also worked for nearly two decades as middle manager for a Fortune 500 company. Sober over 30 years through 12-step recovery, I have worked in the recovery field since 1992. I have two special interests: First, the need for the spiritual in recovery and what this means for our daily living including our relationships, work and play. I would like to help seekers obtain and maintain a spiritual life including finding "God as we understand him". I believe we all want to be better than we are and this may happen if we understand and live our what I call "the power of powerlessness". My second special interest is nicotine addiction. I was caught up in this addiction for 40 years but have been free from nicotine since 1990. I have conducted nicotine cessation classes for a local recovery center with great success. From my experience I am eager to help individuals understand the reality of this powerful addiction and help those who want to quit.

William F. Dexter MA Registered MFT Intern IMF 50965
I am a highly experienced and effective life/executive coach emphasizing accountability and providing strategies to help you achieve the goals you want in your life by using the ³Here and Now² approach. Coaching will consist of techniques, which realign and interrupt thinking patterns, which ³donıt work² for a more authentic way of being. The coaching will give you insight into what gets in the way of you meeting your goals and having the integrity to acknowledge it. Simply said coaching is partnership in responsibility. I achieved my MA in counseling psychology in 2000. During my internship I have provided therapy for individuals, families, couples, children and adolescents of diverse symptoms. I understand and emphasize the importance of providing a warm nonjudgmental attitude and a nurturing atmosphere where one may feel safe enough to talk openly about personal matters or problems. Your needs will guide my decisions about techniques to be used to alleviate symptoms and encourage positive changes. My favorite quote is ³nothing changes within us unless we first accept it.² I experience personal joy as I see individuals confront, understand and surmount their problems. It is extremely rewarding to see people transcend obstacles they encounter in their lives and become happy and usefully whole.
